“But what is the resolution? It is always something ancient and precisely because of this—something new. When something ancient comes back again in a new world…it is new…The task is to give birth to the old in a new time….”
—CG Jung, The Red Book, p. 311 Lecture and Discussion
via Zoom from Birmingham, Alabama Monday, May 15, 2023 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. CDT Zoom meeting room will open at 5:15 p.m. to allow time to visit. This is a free event. Contact hours are not available. We will gather on the evening following Mother’s Day, to observe the re-emergence of
Changing Woman, who since antiquity has been the most revered deity in the Navajo pantheon. She is of both Heaven and Earth and is a She-He deity. She is regarded as both the body and creator of Earth, as well as all living things there on. With flesh from her body, she created human beings and cared for them. She is the ever-changing, ever-moving, ever-evolving Sacred Feminine. She is Changing Woman. “Myth takes us deep into ourselves…and connects us most deeply with our own natures and our place in the cosmos.”
—James Hollis, PhD, Tracking the Gods, p. 8 Listening with the ears of Soul, we will explore and experience The Myth of Changing
Woman, together with the relevant story of Dr. Jung’s encounter with Pueblo Chief Mountain Lake in 1932, and the subsequent development of Jung’s concept of The Golden Thread of Relatedness. As we navigate the change from the old familiar epoch of our times to the unknowns of a new epoch, we experience the tumult of our rapidly changing lives. Questions emerge. Who are we? Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where are we going? How do we live in balance and harmony individually, globally, and universally? Is all well with our Soul? Anna Penelope Dudley is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Jungian-oriented psychotherapist. She is a Training Candidate at the CG Jung Institute Zurich and holds a certificate in Archetypal Fairy Tale Analysis, Assisi Institute, International Center for the Study of Archetypal Patterns. She has served as a member of the Friends of Jung-South Board since 1994 and was Convener for seven years.
